Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your Kampala hotel by your driver guide. Travel to Mbale via the Kampala-Jinja road, taking in attractions such as Mabira Forest and tea plantations in Lugazi. Stop for photos at the Cable Bridge in Jinja. Upon arrival in Budadiri, meet with park rangers, arrange porters for your luggage, and attend a briefing. Start your hike through coffee plantations and local communities, reaching Sasa Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, continue your hike through lush forest to Mude Camp, a journey of about 4 to 5 hours covering a distance of 600 meters. Enjoy the serene forest environment and stay overnight at Mude Hut.
Today’s hike takes you to the summit of Mount Elgon, Wagagai Peak. Covering a distance of about 9 kilometers, this trek will take approximately 7 to 8 hours. Revel in the breathtaking views from the peak before descending back to Mude Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Descend from Mude Camp using an alternate trail that might include a visit to the picturesque Sipi Falls, Sipi Caves, and the Sipi River. Transfer to Mbale City in the afternoon and spend the night there.
After an early breakfast, drive to Jinja for a boat cruise on the Nile River. Spot birds, hippos, and crocodiles as you witness the source of the world’s longest river separating from Lake Victoria. Continue your journey back to Kampala and be dropped off at the airport or your hotel, concluding your Mount Elgon hiking expedition.
